Donations to the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund help us do even more to strengthen Ohio families, invest in communities, and ensure that every child is safe, happy, and healthy. Because we’re committed to running as efficiently as possible, nearly 90 cents of every dollar goes directly into programs and services.
That means when you donate, you’re supporting programs in your community — and families who are your friends and neighbors.
And your donation is tax deductible, so save your receipt.
How Your Donation Helps
Here are what kinds of programs and services different donation levels buy, so that you can know how your donation helps in a real way:
- $25 pays for transportation for a family attending a parenting class
- $50 pays for childcare for a family attending a parenting class
- $100 pays for one parent participating in a leadership opportunity in their community
- $500 pays for one family participating in local parenting services
- $1,000 pays for mentoring services for one vulnerable youth
Helping Communities
Your donation helps our eight Regional Prevention Councils to combat issues they’ve identified as priority needs in their communities:
- Substance abuse
- Lack of peer support for youth
- Parental stress
- Caregiver support
- Lack of professional development opportunities
- Availability of quality childcare
- And more
When opportunities exist to address these issues, families are healthier and stronger — and children grow up with much less risk of abuse or neglect.
Helping Causes
When you donate to the OCTF, there are a number of important causes your money supports.
- Child Sex Abuse Prevention — Your dollars can help pay for human trafficking prevention programs for at-risk youth, childcare providers, caregivers, and specialists. Children and professionals learn the risks and signs of child sexual abuse and receive body safety training.
- Child Physical & Mental Health — Your contribution can help pay for programs for children with physical disabilities, mental illness, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. Additionally, you can help fund programs for at-risk youth and children experiencing trauma who don't have access to quality care.
- Childcare — You can help to train early childhood educators and childcare providers so that they provide quality services and children receive adequate care.
- Caregiver Support — Your donation can support programs for parents and caregivers who themselves have experienced trauma, domestic violence, unemployment, mental illness, poverty, or other conditions that may affect their care of their children. With your help, they can receive the resources and support to better provide and care for their families.
Helping Buy Materials
Your donation may help buy materials or products to support families and children.
- Safe Sleep Products — Your contribution may be used to buy items such as sleep sacks that can help infants sleep safely and prevent accidental strangulation or suffocation.
- Educational Toys — Low-income children may receive educational books, materials, and resources that spur their healthy development thanks to you.
- Gift Cards — Your donation may help a struggling family receive gas cards so they can attend parenting support programs.
- Program Supplies — At-risk youth attending programs funded by the OCTF may receive needed educational supplies that help them achieve successful outcomes.
